Ran 3 miles.

Ran three miles on Sunday.

Felt proud to do it because I kept pushing it off.  Then at 345 decided I needed to get it done!

It was tough, but felt good.  After doing so much yoga and Barre it was nice getting back to what I like to do.  I'm going to.do the same on my break today.  Save checking in for tomorrow.

My glutes are sore this morning.  I am really enjoying Barre.

Tuesday...soon to be done with this week.

What a week.

I had wedding weekend hangover.  Jason's brother got married this weekend so it was a long weekend thrown off our schedule.

This week I went to yoga on Wednesday with Jason!  It was really nice.  I also hit the jcc gym and did the stair climber- a good old friend! I went to Barre Friday and Saturday morning and did an awesome 90 min. Yoga class at hot house.  Ii was so strong and so with it all day today.

In two weeks I have the 5 miler and at the end I get a medal!!!!  Woo hoo!

This week will be a great one.  Tomorrow is pajama day all day! Eff yeah!

Tomorrow I check in. Time for reflections.

This week was great.  2 Barre and 3 yogas.  Felt good.  Needed more running though.  Tomorrow is a run day.  Have to wake up early to go.

Which means I need to get to sleep soon.  Will try to aim for maybe 2-3 tomorrow morning.  I really miss it.

Oh life.  It has a funny way of changing plans with no notice!

Keeps it exciting!

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Wow, I fell off the running wagon hard. Way hard.

After Tuesday I kinda stopped making the time to run.  This week I've focused more on taking classes to strengthen while I am in recovery from my injury.  I'm not doing two a days in hopes to not ever feel that again.

So instead I filled the week with 2 Barre classes and a yoga class and am going to a hot yoga this morning.  Oh, and tomorrow morning I'm trying for another hot yoga.  Since we have a car I need to squeeze them in. I have 13 and I've only used 2.

This week was a year from that terrible picture that kicked my rear in gear and started my change.  Almost 50 pounds. Sooooo close! I think just 3 more to go.  I can do it.  But o do love how strong my body is getting and how lean it is too!

Next week will be Barre and more yoga, I really am enjoying these studios. I may get a pass for Om on yoga after.  They are affordable and close enough! And make me feel good.

I miss running though I feel like I'm cheating on her.  I feel like my running would be a girl- more like the girl I want to be.  So yes, doing these other classes I am cheating on her.  I need to find some time to get back to it soon.  Life just needs more time.

Today was great.

"Hey guys...guys...the sun is out!"- Austin, 3.

It was indeed today.  But not when I woke up at 545... No, it wasn't.  But, I did get up.  Get dressed.  Packed a lunch...err breakfast instead.  Then headed in a walk/run to meet up with Amanda for a 7am Barre class.

Oh man it was tough.  But made a work connection in the teacher.  Richmond is ever increasingly so tiny.  It felt good to get back to classes.

Tomorrow is a day off.  Minus my biking trek to get weighed in on my break.  Yay.  I'm going to listen to music and it will be wonderful.  I'm sure of it.

I'm sure with my week of rest I may have taken a hit.  But its alright.  Not a bump just a hitch, undone and gotten back on track.

Tonight I made an amazingly healthy dinner and Jason ate it then ranked it an 8!!!  It was based with massaged kale then a warm salad of peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes with a beer sauce. It was yummy.

Oh also bought a dress to wear to the wedding!!! And its a nude color so I went with green shoes.  Flats! Smart.  Now I can sleep.at night.

Speaking of.  Goodnight!

Oh ps. This is me a year ago this weekend.  It's my starting weight at 245ish...I didn't weigh myself until I had began to lose.

Back in the saddle.

This morning was wonderful.

Went to the jcc with Jason and ran my mile on the treadmill, then walked a smidge on incline for good measure.

Then the exciting part.  Hot yoga from 1030-1115.  It was magically and wonderful.  I felt strong and calm and in control and it was just what I needed to feel good again.

This is the start of a wonderful week back in the game of life.

Now laundry.  In the rain.  Blah.

I cracked.

I thought I had it.

I thought I could make it through hell week.

I ran before I went to babysit Thursday night.  It was great, light pain- but was feeling on track to getting through it.  Then midnight hit and I was up for almost the rest of the night expelling everything I had eaten that evening.  I don't know if it was food poisoning, a stomach bug, or the muscle relaxer I have been taking- whatever it was it hit me HARD.

Friday morning I took off from work, then struggled to go in at 1030, I knew I would need some time to adjust to my surroundings, so I met Jason in the cafe to transition to society again.

Not a good idea.  I believe I last until 12:15 when coworkers rearranged their situations and the school secretary, Carol, drove me home.  I slept then for almost 6 hours feeling like death.  Then at 930 pm I made the decision that I was going to skip my run.

UGH- It was so hard.  I was really upset.  I had got 48 days of running at least one mile.  Past any amount of time I had done or even dreamt of doing before. I am really upset at the week.  But, I did get past a lot of hard things.

Saturday woke up with a stitch, cut run short with Amanda.
Monday, sinus problem, felt the stitch even when walking around work, decided to take Tuesday off.
Tuesday was really bad.  Went to doctor, she said it was just a sprained lower trunk muscle. Started period.
Wednesday went into work, took a nasty spill on my bike resulting in multiple deep bruises around my body.
Thursday took off from work.  Slept most of the day, started to feel better until MIDNIGHT. see above.
Friday felt like DEATH. Came home at 12:15 and slept until 6pm.
Saturday- after waking up and doing a system check- Feeling 90% better!!!  Stitch is at maybe a level 1-2 and everything else has resolved itself.  Except for a nasty bruise on my right inside knee.  But that will heal.

So I took today off from running too.  Actually I have gone exactly 2 days from working out at all.  Maybe I just needed a break, maybe my body sent a HUGE signal to STOP!  To me.  Or maybe I was just victim to a week of tragic unfortunate events.

Whatever.  I didn't make 365, but tomorrow will be day 1 of round 2.  I still have an 8k coming up and a 1/2 marathon in March.  I made it 48 days.  Now my goal is to make it to 50.

Good job MegAnne, 48 days is amazing.  Not your first goal, but still a great accomplishment.

Also tonight someone said "Wow MegAnne, you're getting so thin."  That made me feel really good.  Seeing as today I woke up significantly under 200, but I think it was from a lack of food over the past 2 days. But I don't think i'll be seeing a 2 at the start of my weight every again.  I have banished it.

Now I should be sleeping, but as I got home 45 min. ago I've had this post in my mind and just needed to get it out.  I think because I let myself down.  Then I struggled with not guilting myself.  I made it 48 days.  I fought as hard as I could.  I made it as far as my body would let me.  I put up a good fight.  Round 2 will be mine!!!

5 favorite places to run.
- Jcc on my break on Friday's.  Jason works then and it's nice to have him cheer me on.
- Vita Trail with Britney.
- Pony Pasture with Amanda
- Belle Isle
- any 1 mile exact route around my apartment.  I think it's fun to find them.

47.

Light pain.  Only when I was running.  Not so much just walking.  By George I think I'm getting better.

47 days. 47 days.  47 days.

I can't wait to get back to all the classes next week.  After taking this week off, it sucked.

Last Night.

I came home from work. Jason had surprises me and made dinner all by himself.  It was so amazing.  Just ground beek, veggies, and rice.  Yum though!

After, we watched 2 gossip girls then talked about how I was going to snooze for 30 min. Then go for my run.  Which I really really really didn't want to do.  It was raining, I was still hurting, tired, etc.  But at 930 I got up, put on my rain jacket and spare shoes and went out for my mile.

Ya know what, my side hurt- but not as much, and I made it through victorious!!!

Today I took the day to rest and so far no pain.  I literally have only walked to the bathroom and kitchen but no pain!!! It's either the ammount of meds or my side is getting better thankfully.

That whole ordeal was really uncomfortable and painful.  It showed me that I definitely need to go at my body's pace and listen to it when I need to rest.  Last week going to hard made me have to sit this whole week out. I don't want that again.

Next week, back on track. But not the fast one.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

It will be the hardest...

Mile and it was.

Jason ran with me.

I had my side pain, food cramps, and period cramps.  Basically everything in me on fire and running as fast as I could muster around the 12 innocent blocks.

Bless Jason, he didn't know what he was signing up for when he asked to join.  I am in pain, moody, and very snippy.

But I made it.  And as he said "this is be the hardest mile you ever run.  Not even joking."

Day 45. Done.

Okay so I went to the doctor.

After webmd suggested that it was either gallbladder issue or cancer of my ears (jk) I decided to go to the doctor.

It turns out that apparently I have a lower trunk sprain.  My pee was perfect and my blood was beautiful and I have excellent blood pressure.  Just did it too hard last week and my body revolted.  Loud and clear body.  Loud and clear.

So I decided to take some time to heal and get better.  Tonight I will still slog through my mile.  Just go slow.  Very slow.  And then will reschedule my yoga for tomorrow morning with Jason.  And finish the week quietly.  I can not wait to get back to the classes.  I feel like I'm wasting this free gift of health.

Figures that I got hurt. Ugh...

It is so discouraging.  I'm just frustrated.

So Epsom salt bath to losen things up.  Took a muscle relaxer 2 hours ago.  And pancakes for dinner to help with chilling out.

Day 45 will live in infamy.

As the I.famously frustrating injury.

5 classes I've had to cancel, making me grumpy.
- monday am Barre with Amanda
- Tuesday night hot yoga
- Wednesday morning yoga
- Sunday night Barre
- Saturday morning Barre.  Dammit.

DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT.

Monday, October 7, 2013

One even sicker mile.

Treadmill on break

1.0 mile.  Had to stop at mid point because pain in right side was too much.  I was running at 3.5.  So pitiful.

In Epsom salt and peppermint oil bath.  I hope it helps.  Nyquil again.

What is wrong with me.  Ugh!!!

Sunday, October 6, 2013

sick.

Day 43.  One mile exactly with Jason staying as close to our apartment as possible.  I am NOT feeling well.  Cancelled all my other activities.  But I don't want to past 42 days to mean nothing.

Saturday, October 5, 2013

41 and 42

Forty one was a mile on the treadmill while Jason was at work.

Then I sent out an email to the parents.

42 was around belle.isle with Amanda. We did 1.3 out of our goal of 3 miles.  We did hot yoga for the first time and didn't eat anything before.

Tonight I devoured a barnyard brawl.burger from carytown.  It was amazing.

Also, planning a vacation with beckie.  I'm really excited. :)

37 and 38

Both was just a mile inside on the treadmill.

Last night was the first group meeting for the ellwood thonpsons get well challenge.

Went with Amanda and got all the info!

Today I went to the Barre boutique for my first class and dear god it was hard.  My legs are still shaky.  I'm thinking of waking up and going to a 6 am yoga class.  It's the only time in the day I can squeeze it in.  Phew!

Tomorrow. I. Will. Be. Sore. Yay.

Holy shit today I ran 7 miles with Jason at pony pasture!!!

Furthest I have ever ran! Hot dog! In 6 months I will have to run a little less than double.  Hot dog, I got this shit yo!

Then we were treated to shopping at trader Joes and dinner.  Jason treated me to krispie kreme doughnuts.  I unfortunately am still much too full to partake till the morning! :)

Also, after running I stepped on the scale and FINALLY under 200!  9 months and 47+ pounds down! Oh yeah!

Phew.  Tomorrow is Monday.  Good night.

Day 35!

Day 34...

Last night was a 1.77 mile run with Jason.  I started of fast but quickly went back to my typical pace.  Oh man...

Tonight Im by myself, so I think a mile jog after I treat myself to a manicure.

Tomorrow I am thinking of waking up early and going out for a looooong run by myself.  Not sure where yet.  Maybe through belle isle by myself.  I wish I could get to pony pasture to do it.  Damn not having a car.

5 mom memories:
- telling her "Fuck you" and hanging up on her
- sitting on the stool and rubbing her feet while she rubbed my back
- going to ihop with her
- having a red prom dress she made me
- seeing her for the last time on my birthday

Thirty-two and 33

Thirty-two was done on a teeadmill on my break.  Exactly 1 mile due to a bad right side cramp. Ugh, it was bad.  But Jason had just come and surprised me cause his class was cancelled! It was great.

33 was done with my bff allison. We ran down monument to westmooreland and then turned to go down Patterson.  That's when we found a women who was caught in her backyard and was panicked because her little white dog escaped.  Allison bolted for the dog and I helped the woman escape her backyard.  It was an adventure. I ended up at 2.05 and she did 2.5!!!

Check and check.  Tomorrow is day 34!

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

31!

Another two miles chatting with Linda on our break.

Staying strong and proud!

I find that talking about my challenges makes and keeps me accountable to myself.

Thursday is run with Allison.

Need to get with Britney.

Run. Run. Run.

Monday, September 23, 2013

Day 30.

Ran 2 miles on my break.  Chatted with a co-worker while doing so making it fly by!
Then got news that I was selected with Amanda to participate in ellwood thompsons get well challenge.  3 months of health tools!

Then Amanda and I went to yoga at the yoga project which is a non profit yoga studio. It was really relaxing and chill though the studio looks a bit like a porn set.  Black toilets and weird wall paper.

Tomorrow is day 31!

Also, finally made plans with Allison for thursday.  About time! I miss her.

Guess what.

28 and 29

So I'm weekend babysitting and this was the first time I was starting to get in a real panic about fitting in my run.

I did.  At 945 at night, in the pouring rain, left first tweaked, and tense. But hey, I did it! 1.2 to he exact.

Having jaso. Around to stay in with Gordon asleep was the only way I could have done it.  By the time he woke up from his nap it had started raining- and I was going to take him out in the stroller. Wah!

So this morning I woke up and went out at 745 so that I can give my foot over a full day to heal and feel better.  I need to take some Advil when I get home tonight.  And probably a bath.  And probably some ice.  I also need to work in a longer run soon.  I'm thinking 6+.  Fyuuun!

Alright, tomorrow is day 30!!!  Holy shit balls.

5 yummy things to eat
- turkey meunster avacado wrap ups
- espresso and a touch of sugar
- Thai peanut anything
- gooey brownies
- kit kat

27 and I'm in heaven

Ran just over a mile on the treadmill today. It was the first time in a while running inside.  Felt like I was cheating.

But now its the weekend and have to squeeze in a run somewhere babysitting all weekend with Gordon. This will je interesting and a fun challenge!

It's Friday!!!!

The sky gave me a high five today.

Jason and I decided to go run on the northside area.  We went down Leigh street past the redskins stuff and ended back at en su Boca to enjoy some street corn and tacos!

The best part of the 2 miles was just as we were turning on to Leigh, we saw a shooting star.  It was awesome.  We both just went WHOA! it was like a high five from the earth.

Keep up the good work, it said.

Today is day 27!

Day 24

So today was a very busy day.

Work, run, dentist, isla, work, grocery strore, blog.

Phew- it was a very long day, and tomorrow will be long, and thursday will be long too. LONG WEEK.

Okay, so today.  Work morning was only 3 hours, but it was a long 3 hours of interesting things.

When I left work I went to pick up the car and fit in my run, I had just enough time to run a mile on the vita trail- i listened to regina/rilo kiley and it reminded me how much Fall time screams for Rilo Kiley.  I LOVE THEM!  It reminded me of the fall time going to see shows with Allison and screaming at them from the front row after waiting for 12+ hours for them to arrive.  I remember eating chinese food and sitting for hours in the hot sun/ cold cement sidewalk.  Those were great times.

After picking up Isla we jetted to the Park on Park for a small bit until it was time for her mom to come home.  And OMG there was a gaggle of moms and their kids and it reminded me of the book Little Children of all the playground moms sharing all their playground mom troubles. "it is just always all me all the time" and "it was exactly 30 min. to walk here, we have to leave at 435 exactly so we can see Harry before he goes back to work for his late meeting" "ugh, these jeans are falling down, they're my 'mom' jeans" OMG listening to them air their laundry to each other was gross. and sad at the same time.  The only valuable things these women had to talk about was their routines surrounding around their kids.  Where did they go?  Where were the conversations about them, not just their kids.  I find this happens a lot and it makes me angry, why do moms lose themselves becuase they have kids.

In my running I have found that having some "me time" is really important.  Having that little bit of time to go for a run and be just by myself is really helpful and therapeutic.  I listen to the music I want to and I don't have to entertain or talk or be with anyone, but myself.  It's hard to get it going but once I do it's so wonderful.  I think everyone needs to have something that they do everyday just by themselves.  Even if it's just a cup of coffee or a shower to clear their mind and be by themselves.  But I'm really enjoying having the run be just mine.

Tomorrow is day 25. Great job MegAnne.

I'm tired, the end.

Day 22. Day TWENTY-TWO

Bejesus it's day 22.

Today I went out after a long day with Jason and he took me on a 4 miler.  I ran 3.3 of it and had to take a break to walk for a smidge.  But it's better than not doing it at all!!!

Today also marked my sub 12 minute mile.  I was able to run the 3.3 doing 11.6 or like 11:40 a mile!  That's pretty awesome.   I ran past a kid who goes to the JCC and Jason laughed that my pace went really fast and I just said "i want to just go away from them" and then once we got onto Grove I sped up and Jason asked where the sprint came from and I said "i just want to get home"

Getting stronger/faster/better/stronger!

Next week will be 30 days.  A whole month!  My GOD!!!

5 phrases I over use:
- Holy smokes
- maybe...
- Girl
- I'm sorry
- i don't have a fifth...oh well.

Day 21 it's a habit now!!!

Day 21 was spent on the vita trail with Jason going 2.9!  On the fastest lap 11:15 Sarah screamed by flicking me off.

It made my heart so happy to see her!  I killed it! Today is 22 and will be going out after babysitting Gordon and a little shopping treat! I need some new workout clothes and white tank tops! :)

Day 22!!!

Friday, September 13, 2013

Tomorrow is a big day!!!

XVIII

I think that's 18...that's what yesterday was.

I've slacked on making these posts- I need to get back to it!  Just like the run, the documentation is just as important!

So yesterday I took the day off from work.  I just needed a random Wednesday, and it was wonderful!  I was so happy I did that.

I texted Britney to see what she was up to and if she wanted to squeeze in a run- she did!  We actually squeezed in a smoothie, Ross, a run/walk, ufab and then finished with Martins!  It was a great morning off!  We made it 1.5 in really terrible heat.  We also walked 1.5 it was great.  Felt really good to be disgustingly sweaty and working out!  After leaving Britney- I rode down and had a late lunch with Jason before babysitting at 730.  Jason had a class at 4, so we said goodbye and I biked home reflecting on the day.

About what a great day it was and how I was going to come back here and write this post.  Until I got locked out- UGGGH!  So after about an hour of trying to figure something else out I ended up going back to campus and sneaking into Jason's class to get the key from him.  It was kinda funny!

Then we ended the night babysitting and cuddling and it was a perfect day off.  Today is Thursday and day NINETEEN!!!! :)  Tomorrow is 20 and on Saturday it has become a habit!  21 days!  Woo hoo!

15/365

Today.  Was.  Perfect!

Woke up this morning and drank some water while getting ready-

then Jason and I headed out to run around brown's island and belle isle.  Probably about 3 miles, maybe 3.5.

Well we decided to try to go to forrest hill park and do a lap around there and then finish on belle isle- so it was a bit different route.

Long story short- we started on the trail where I sprained my ankle last year and it was perfect!  I made it!!!  Then we looped over to the far side of the river and ran until we hit a staircase up to riverside dr.  Then I had to take a pit stop and release some waste! :)  Then we started on riverside drive to get to forrest hill park- we were at about 2.5 miles and about 30 min. and I convinced J that we wouldn't have enough time to make it there and back before getting to our bikes by 10- so we turned around and then made our way back along the river to the bridge again and then made a loop around belle isle on the other side before running back to the bikes!  My watch was clocking 5.17.  I stopped it while I went to the bathroom and I stopped it when we were walking up the stairs.  So give or take about .15 I'm going to count this run as 5 miles!!!

I MADE MY SURPRISE GOAL OF 5 MILES!

And it was so much better because I conquered that bloody trail that claimed 6 weeks of my life last year!

So starting the week off a bit high, but that means I can chillax a little this week!

I feel so so so good.

5 things I'm learning about myself
- i can run and talk
- i love seeing all the beautiful wildflowers
- it bugs me when people don't acknowledge me when I pass them
- i think i might be in love with trails
- i am a runner

Fourteen. Two weeks, killing it

Today was perfect!

Woke up, coffee, cereal..ah! Britney rescheduled our run together so I needed to figure out a plan b.

Caught up with my original running buddy via facebook messages.  Then decided I needed to be outside and not in a gym.

Jason met me after work and we headed to the vita trail, he did his workout while I did my run.  I had 1.5 left to do and I did 2.6!!!

It was wonderful! :)

Treated then to some fresh market sushi! Yum.

My weekly total goal was 13...
3+2.5+1.5+1.1+2.6+1.5+2.6= 14.8!!!!

Holy crap!!! Alright, next weeks goal is 15!

Friday, September 6, 2013

Lucky 13.

On my break I did 1.5.

It has been a really wonderful fall day!  Perfect Friday! :)

I am 1.5 away from my goal this week.  Beautiful!

Jason and I are going to do a long run on Sunday.  I'm going to try to do a trail with him I think.  But I'm not going to mention it until Sunday.

Thirteen!  :)

12/365

Today was a wonderful day.  It's Rosh Hasanah- so that means I have the day off!

I thought I was going to sleep in, but decided to spend the morning on the couch with Jason before he left for school- we talked about how I was going to run at some point, wasn't sure when.

After doing my morning stuff, I got a message from a co-worker asking if I wanted to go for a run.  At pony pasture.  A TRAIL.  My immediate answer is "yes! great idea!"  then after...I started to panic.  Remembering what happened last July- my Splash and Dash catastrophe.

We met at Ellwood Thompson's to fill out a form for a fitness contest then headed to the trail.

IT WAS SO FUN!  We ran 2 miles, at a 12 min. mile pace and it felt to good!  The trail was so fun, I just kept turning in any direction like I was in a real life version of Temple Run and it was so much fun!  Amanda and I chit chatted about how good it felt to be in nature running and moving, and it was.  SO NICE!

I know Jason has told me many times the serenity of it all- I never knew what he meant.  But today I agreed to run with a co-worker for the first time, at a trail and it was perfect.

Then this afternoon Jason and I ran to Starbucks to get me a PSL!!!!! YUM!!!  So it was another .6 miles.  Perfect, my total today is 2.6-

B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!!

I only have 2.4 miles left to run this week to make my goal!  I'm so proud...I'm doing it- really really really doing it!

I also met Katie for tacos at an old porn store and it was perfect.  I miss her energy in my life.

Speaking of- I caught up with Beckie too.  I miss her so much, sometimes it's hard to express to her.

Life is fast, hard, and complicated.

Top 5-
a. kit kats
b. fall cool bike rides
c. morning cuddles
d. kitty snuggles
e. WEEKENDS!

Last night was eleven!

I met Britney tonight for a workout turned vita trail.  The jcc closed at 6 which left me.feeling stressed to find a place where we both could workout together but I could still run my mile....the vita trail! I did just a mile.  And to a wonderful surprise Britney jogged it right next to me! I was so happy for her! What a long journey we have both been on this past year or so.  I'm so glad we both have each other to egg on and push further.  Just like Allison is to me as well.

So day eleven was perfect! I'm slowly getting to 365 one day at a time.  Only 354 left! Today is day 12 and I have it off for Rosh Hashanah.

Today is going to be a good day!

5 annoyances-
...the pimple on my chin
...my right calf being sore
...waking up at 645 on my day off
...Hedwig chewing my necklaces

Labor day nine.

Jason and I went out for day nine! 2.3- my watch read 2.5 but I'm assuming that's with the running in place at stop lights!

Today when we went out I wore a sports bra and a tank- no cami under.  I felt comfortable not to be reinforced to a millionth degree.  That's a bonus!

I shared with dyanne about running and told her I wasn't going to celebrate it fully until I get to day 21- then I know it will he a habit.

Today I bought myself some cheap treats online.  A cook book I've been eyeing for years, finally 60% off, a perfume sample, and some bike lights.  I was also perusing some artist made wedding bands.  I found some that are finger print engraved.  I got them quoted near 800 which is pretty nice.  For 14k white gold.  I got really excited looking at wedding things online and brainstorming what I would like it to be like.  I found some fun favors that are succulent plants.  They are so cute.  I was also thinking about table themes.  Decorating them with objects of our relationship.  Keeping the color scheme blues and greens- natural in colors.  Beautiful.  I think next weekend I will talk to beckie about it and get her ideas and thoughts and then publicly set the date.  :)

Now to settle a dress.  I need to take some pictures and send them to Allison's mom and see what she says.  And also look at the city of Richmond about doing it at belle isle. It's coming together.  I'm getting excited.  :)

E-I-G-H-T!

Day 8.

This morning I was supposed to meet a good friend at the gym to workout together and catch up.  She had to cancel last minute so I just figured I would stay around the apt. for a little bit then go out for a run by myself.  Then Jason suggested I head over to the tennis courts with him to meet his partner Badri and watch them play tennis a little bit then I could go over to the Vita Trail and run around there.

At first I said "Maybe..." aka. "no" but then i thought about it and decided it would be a great idea.  So, I left with him and biked over to the tennis courts.  Met Badri and watched them hit back and forth a little bit before walking over to the vita trail.  I ran around it 1.5 times.  I was making a pretty solid 12 minute mile pace.  Which I am pretty excited about.  Then after I made it around to the start sign I decided to go around the back way on my way back towards the courts.  It was really pretty running with the wildflowers blooming.  It made me want to pick some- but didn't want to break my pace!

Once I got back to the courts I ran around the courts 2 times, adding another mile.  My total was 3 miles!  WOO HOO!!!  A full 3 miles, no stops!  It was perfect!

Starting week 2 off way strong!

7 days, 3 dogs, 1 high five.

5 people I saw today-
- 2 girls i saw at the start of my run, saw them twice- gave me a high five
- a couple walking 2 dogs drinking starbucks and looking stuffy
- the owner of the west franklin b&b pruning the flowers in the yard
- someone cleaning out their garage with a leaf blower
- someone smoking a cig and sweeping the sidewalk on sheppard

So holy shit- i've made it to day seven of running.

Today i went out with no plan and ended up running from my house to davis, to monument, to roseneth, then back home again.  it felt soooooo good.  I'm excited for the fall to come.  That's when I'll start to get longer runs in.

Today was 2 miles, i probably could've gone further if i hadn't of turned around at davis.  I just kept giving myself little milestones to make it to.  the street light, the boulevard, robinson, then after then i just made my mental mark so i turned around.  next time it will be campus and back.  that's 5 miles!

so my weekly miles is.....2.9, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2, 1.4, 2= 11.9 miles!

WOW!  okay, the number to beat next week is 12.  I can totally do that!  :)

So this morning I decided to buy a new regina spektor album to listen to.  I'm been testing it out before I buy it for a couple weeks and knew that I really wanted to treat myself to a running treat.  So, I figured out how to do so and put it on jason's ipod which i hope he is okay with.  it was so wonderful to run to some emotional music to take my mine off of running and let it calm down.  though on the flip side after i got back home and was cooling off right before writing this i started to think about my dad and then right after, my mom.

i really never thought that i would be as affected by her death as I am.  I've been having a really hard time recently with it all.  I just feel so stretched and stressed and just over all out of control of things.  Which is why I think I'm latching on to this running gig.  It gives me something concrete to hold on to and feel like I totally control.  I guess that's a good thing.  It's almost been 6 months.  Today I was fiddling with my earrings and lost a screw backing of hers and I got upset at myself.  A little piece of metal which is forever taking refuge in the couch (I think).

I called my dad to say hi.  It had been too long.  Since the memorial.  I invited him down for his birthday to go out to dinner- he then informed me that he'll be in Las Vegas at a golf tournament- for 10 days!  YIKES!  I hope that's a fun time for him.  He needs it.

Well alright- time to go cry in the shower while getting ready for jason's parents visit this afternoon.

12 miles- i'm amazing.

Day 5 and 6.

Forgot to post yesterday.  It was good!!!  Jason started day 5 by giving me my running rva coffee mug! He told me that he was proud of me for making it to day 5.  I am proud of me too.

So my work day was the pits and came to Jason on my break near tears- ugh! But hopped on the treadmill and made it worth it!  Did 1.4 and some sprints, I finally reached the zone out phase.  It was beautiful!

My legs aren't sore anymore and I cam tell that I'm just getting into the zone more-  it feels so good.  Today was 1.3 and did some 7.5 sprints at the end. It makes me feel so strong.

Tomorrow is day 7!!!!

Day 4 of 365

Eep! I almost went to bed without writing.

Despite really painful and tight calves I ran today.  After in meetings for the past 3 days, at 4 today I headed to the gym while everyone was out getting dinner.

I walked .1 mile then ran 1.2.  I was at a slow speed and at a -.5 decline so my calves could have a respite and it worked.  I felt good running.  Tuned everything out for a while and it actually turned into 2.2 mile run and in the end some 7 mph sprints.  Afterwards I made sure to stretch really really really well.

Still a bit tight- but Jason rubbed them tonight- so a bit better!  After heading back for meet the teacher night, coworkers in the hall gave me a thumbs up for going. It made me feel really really good, and proud.

Day 4 check!  No top 5. Will contintue tomorrow for day 5.

2/365

Okay, today brought Monday- ugh! Jason had set the alarm for 6am because I figured I would get up and get my run out of the way first thing.  Plans shifted when I heard the alarm and felt so comfortable in my bed.  I also realized that work was done at 5 and I had a meeting at 630...hmmm just enough time to work out! So I skipped the am run!

I'm glad I did.  I was thinking about the run all day while I was sitting in my chair for our professional development day.  Make that day 1 of 3.  Ugh!  So after we got out at 5 to 5 I headed up to the gym for a workout! Got on the treadmill- warmed up for 5 minutes walking then ran 1.2 miles! :). Felt good- I was playing with the incline and went from 0 to 3 to -3 to 12.  It mixes it up enough that I don't get too sore.  Just when I feel my muscles giving up i hit the button AMD work different ones!  After cooling down I hit the stairmaster for 10 minutes interval making it up 23 flights- then stretched out really well.  Due to lack of stretching yesterday resulting in sore muscles.

Along with the 2 mile bike ride to and from work I'd say it was a good day.  I also got my watch tracking stuff today. It said during my workout I burned nearing 800 calories, which is way off from the machines.  Amazing, so tomorrow will bring day 3...I'm still in it to win it!

5 things to smile about

d. Actually anything with Jason

Self commitment.

Today was day one of 365 days of running.  I've decided with all the other stresses that have been going on in my life I need to slice away some time just for me.  100% for focusing and working on me and my life.  The best way to do this is not lounging on the couch or going out for drinks it is going to be putting aside some time everyday to go for a little run.  My stipulation is just at least a mile.  it would take like 10 minutes. Easy peasy.

I decided to buy a watch to help me- it was a cheap new balance heart rate monitor watch that keeps rough track of my calories, steps, heart rate (when it wants to cooperate) and time.  I was really excited about it when it got here, I have yet to have to accurately record my heart rate while I'm out running or biking which is really frustrating but I'm not giving up quite yet.

So today, Jason goes out with me and he said we'd be doing about 1.5-2.5 tops on this route.  About .75 miles in a get frustrated at the damn watch and stop and walk to figure it out, that's when I see that the watch is saying .75- it just didn't seem right.  So we start running again and we get stopped by some people asking directions and I take the opportunity to check the watch again- no HR but now it's saying 1.8 miles and it makes Jason and I both laugh.  "It is so off!" So we finish the run and my watch is saying I burned 575 calories and went 3.19 miles.  I decided to return the watch- while Jason looked up our actual mileage.  Then he was surprised to report that the usa track site he uses to track runs said that the route we took was 2.9 miles.  Not so off.  I was jogging in place while we gave directions and we crossed the streets a couple of times so I'm wondering if that logged as distance even though it wasn't actual distance.  It wasn't as off as I thought it was.  I also was impressed that it was almost 3 miles.  Made me feel better about needing to take a walk break here and there.  I can do 3 though without stopping.  I know it.

So thus begins my year long blog about my running.  My rules- at least one mile every day.  Inside or outside.  For 365 days, no breaks.  My goals are to get to the easy point in running and enjoy it as a place to take out my stress.  A place just for me.  No one can touch it.  Rather controlling I s'pose.

Okay MegAnne- this is a big commitment to yourself and your body and your sanity.  Work through all your shit via runs and time for just you.  You will be a better person for it in the end!

Day One- check!

5 things I've made this week-
- fancy water.  cucumber and mint water- yum!
- pizza crust.  whole wheat
- almond and coconut challah french toast- DOUBLE YUM!
- spaghetti sauce
- salad with kale and cabbage that Jason actually eats!

Starting the year right. Minus today...

Doing great things already this year.  I went for a run 4 days in a row and each day I got stronger.

Yesterday Jason and I went out together.  Each equipped with headphones and our music devices. It was really enjoyable.  We did it together separately and it felt good. U think I want to work up to doing it chatting but that's not really what I wanted it to be.

The night before I had gone out eith Allison and bought some new sports bras and she told me about a bunch of new apps that she downloaded to help her lose the weight. I thikk she's lost almost 50 and she looks great!  It really inspires me to.change myself.

I told Jason my goal isn't a number but more of a feeling. I want to buy something sexy and feel that way.

So far I'm up to 1.2 mile without stopping!!!  Soon ill be up to 3 and its going to feel amazing!

Cheers to the new year.
